To build excitement and anticipation for the release of the “Fake A Smile” music video, The Orchard’s Video Services team designed a multi-part sequence of ads. Sequence ads were triggered in specific order based on how users took action, ranging from watching the full music video trailer to visiting the online merchandise store.

To reach new audiences, Discovery & Sequence ads targeted fans who had subscribed to the artist’s YouTube channel and utilized audience targeting through channels, interests, and genres. Discovery & Sequence ads also used the Google network to target non-subscribers in a similar manner.

In addition, the video featured an engaging UGC campaign that asked fans to complete a series of challenges and unlock an announcement from Walker. This interactive experience drew on the video game theme of the music video, incorporating video game footage synced to the track and Walker’s voice. This allowed the artist to further engage with fans online and drive a significant increase in channel growth.
